Cetaphil DermaControl Review & GIVEAWAY!

HI GUYS! Long time no talk, eh? (Yea, some Canadians really do say eh.)

I’ve got an exciting post for you that is not only a product review but a giveaway as well! Cetaphil was not only generous enough to provide me with these products but to provide an awesome prize for my readers as well!

That being said I want to start off with a few disclaimers.dermacontrol-main

  1. These products were sent to me but all my opinions are completely honest and my own.
  2. Since skincare is so unique thing to each person, if these products did/didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it will/won’t work for you. Skin is just so damn complicated, am I right ladies??

The two products that Cetaphil sent me are the cleanser and moisturizer from their DermaControl line which is targeted at oily/combination and blemish prone skin. I have combination, acne prone, sensitive skin – awesome combo right?!

Cetaphil DermaControl Foam Wash

Product Claims My Thoughts
·       Hydrating wash I didn’t find it particularly hydrating. Almost felt dry just because of the way it feels when you’re applying it to your face.
·       Non-drying, soap-free foam I definitely agree, the foam did not lather (can be a good thing – means no sulfates) but it felt very strange. It felt like I was just rubbing water on my face and it didn’t really leave my skin feeling clean L
·       Rinses with no residue True!
·       Non-comedogenic, non-irritating I’m not sure if I can attest to this. My skin seems to always be somewhat irritated so I can’t tell if this product helped or hindered me at all.

Over all this cleanser was not my cup of tea and I will not continue to use it 😦

Cetaphil DermaControl Moisturizer

Product Claims My Thoughts
· Ceramide technology replenishes skin’s moisture barrier I did find it moisturized nicely.
· Broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection This moisturizer is SPF 30 – always a plus!
· Absorbs quickly with long-lasting hydration It does absorb quickly and provides nice hydration!
· Lightweight, non-greasy matte finish Yes, yes, and yes!

Even though this product does seem to meet all of its claims, sadly, it just did not work out for me. It made me breakout and that’s just not cool #SensitiveSkinProbs. Obviously, I will not continue using this product.

Personally, I think these products would be great for someone with oily skin opposed to someone with oily/combo skin.

Even though these products didn’t 100% meet my needs I still want to give you the chance to win them because they may meet yours! Unfortunately, this giveaway is for those who are currently residing in Canada, sorry guys! 😦

Thank you so much for reading and good luck ❤

An InLinkz Link-up

I am sooo sorry for being MIA. I’ve just been busy with school and kind of just had no motivation to put up content 😦 I’m going to try and get back on track now and possibly start leaning towards video posts? Thoughts?

I’m also going to try and participate in Vlogmas LOL! I’m kinda 3 days late but we’ll see how this goes. I’m just gunna edit today’s footage and upload it to YouTube right now so it’ll be up in an hour or so (I’ll share it on here as well)! Also, if you happen to like my videos please like, comment, and subscribe, it would make my day 🙂

But, if you’ve missed me, you can watch these 2 latest videos of mine which I forgot to share on here! Let me know what you think 🙂 Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for sticking with me even though I’ve been absent ❤

Tarte Coloured Clay CC Primer Review ❀

I got the Tarte Coloured Clay CC Primer a couple months back and I’m finally getting around to sharing my opinion on it! First, let’s read Sephora’s description:

“Buff your way to complexion perfection with this revolutionary correcting stick. Infused with Tarte’s new color-correcting Amazonian colored clay, this powerful, skinvigorating™ primer blends easily to help brighten skin, even skintone, blur imperfections, and neutralize redness and discoloration. Use this multitasking corrector before foundation as a color-correcting primer or alone as light coverage for an allover flawless look. Its antioxidant-rich formula delivers the perfect balance of color correction and coverage with a soft, matte finish.”

Lip Monthly – September 2014 ♡

This is my first Lip Monthly bag! I have more information about this new subscription service here if you’re interested.

The products came in a bag similar to Ipsy.

Here’s what I got!

  1. Jessie’s Girl Nail Polish ($3.99) – I really like this colour and the nail polish is nice and opaque!
  2. Cherimoya Lip Crayon in the colour Fig ($8.00) – This is a matte lip crayon from a brand I’ve never heard of before but I’m in love with the colour! The formula isn’t drying and is very comfortable to wear.
  3. Eco Lips Fair Trade Lip Balm in Kiwi Strawberry ($3.50) – To me lip balms are super boring 😦 Like how many lip balms do you need if they’re all colourless anyway? This also smells absolutely nothing like Kiwi Strawberry LOL.
  4. Cherimoya Lip & Eye Retractable Pencil ($3.99) – This is the same brand as the lip crayon except this is absolute crap -_- It swatches nicely but barely shows up on the eyes or the lips and it tugs when you apply it. Not impressed 😦
  5. Purlisse Moisturizer ($18) – I have not tried this yet but I love moisturizer 😀

Not super impressed with this month’s bag. I really feel like they could have done a better job since it is now fall they could have incorporated some darker lip colours or somehow play up the fall theme. They are still a new subscription service so I don’t want to be too hard on them. Hopefully next month’s bag is better!

Here are are some of the products in action!

Amie Skincare Review ♡

Hey beauties!

So I received some products from Amie Skincare a couple of weeks ago as they are starting to launch at select Shoppers Drug Mart Stores in Canada! Even though these products were sent to me, everything I say is my honest opinion 🙂

From left to right: Radiant Dawn Exfoliating Wash, Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask, Morning Light Hydrating Daily Moisturizer, and Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturizer.

A little bit about the brand: Amie was actually created by leading beauty expert and ex-Estée Lauder executive, Fiona Parkhouse from the UK. Amie uses “high-quality natural plant and botanical ingredients (organic, wherever possible)” and is formulated without parabens, mineral oils, petrochemicals, sodium laureth sulphate or sodium lauryl sulphate, or ingredients of Genetically Modified Origin (GMO). They also don’t use animal products or test on animals so these products are also vegan and vegetarian friendly! 🙂

All great things to have (and not have) in your skincare!
