August 2014 Ipsy Bag Review ♡

I hate to say it but I’m pretty disappointed with my Ipsy bag this month 😦 I didn’t even bother taking a proper picture of my items because I just thought it wasn’t worth it (sorry). But here’s what I got:

august ipsy bag

I will say I was pretty happy about the Urban Decay Perversion mascara and the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner primer. I put the rest of the products in my “gift drawer”. You win some you lose some I guess! Anyway, here’s the breakdown!:

  • Absolute Grape Lip Balm – Full size, value = $3 – This has that really strong fake dollar store grape lip balm smell that I hate. I didn’t even try it on because I really didn’t like the smell :/
  • Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner primer – .25 oz. sample, value = $11.25 – I have yet to try this product but I’m hopeful! I love primers 😀
  • Urban Decay Perversion mascara – .1 oz. Sample, value = ? – I have yet to try this mascara but I have high hopes for this product as well!
  • Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample Duo.09 oz. Sample, value = ? – This was such a tiny sample I didn’t even bother trying to work with it. I decided it would be better as someone’s stocking stuffer as I already have enough blushes anyways. I also didn’t see any blush duo’s on the Coastal Scents website.
  • Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl eye pencil – .02 oz. Sample, value = ? – This was yet another very tiny product and Ipsy has sent me enough black eye liners to last a life time haha!

I’m just hoping next month’s bag turns out better!

July 2014 Ipsy Bag Review ♡

Hello again,
I’m finally back from Palm Springs so I’m hoping to be more consistent with my posts! Here’s a look at my June Ipsy bag 🙂

10563580_10152617124004595_2024082811_n

  1. Clear Clinic Labratories Vanished Clear Spot Treatment 2 mL. sample, value = $9.33 -This is an acne spot treatment with glycolic acid and salicylic acid as the active ingredients. I brought this with me to Palm Springs because it is travel size so I have been using this for a week straight. I honestly can’t tell forsure if it’s helping my breakouts, I think I have to give it more time before I can give a final say! I will say, so far, it hasn’t been drying or burning or anything like that and I love that it’s clear cause then you can wear it under your makeup (haven’t tried that yet)!
  2. Pur-Lisse Pur-Protect Essential Daily Moisturizer SPF 3015 mL. sample, value = $16.50 – I have yet to try this because my daily moisturizer has SPF already in it but I am all for more sunscreen! A vital part of my summer time skin care routine. And, since it’s travel size, it’s perfect to throw in your beach/pool bag 😀
  3. Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 (shade: Inspiration).03 oz. sample, value = approx. $6.66 – I was really impressed with the quality of these shadows! They’re sooo soft and smooth when you swatch them, super easy to blend out, and have great pigmentation. Love the colours!
  4. Whet Nail Polish (shade: Facetious)full size (10 mL.), value: $15 – This nail polish is vegan, cruelty free, and made in the US! I don’t have many colours like this in my collection because I never really thought this would look good on my fair skin but I’m in love!! This might be one of my new favourite nail polish colours to wear!
  5. Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass (shade: Cherry)full size (.35 oz.), value = $23 – This is a lip and cheek stain which actually smells just like cherries! As a cheek stain I don’t really like it because when you dot it on your cheeks with the little sponge applicator it stains your cheeks instantly so you’ll always see that little dot on your cheek. As a lip stain, I’d say it’s OK. It’s nothing too special. It applies a bit patchy and uneven on the lips so I think it would be better to use in conjunction another lipstick/gloss.

Total value = $70.49

What I paid: $15

April 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

Hi lovelies, here’s another Ipsy Glam bag review for ya!

IMG_7029

  1. Sexy Hair – Root Pump Volumizing Spray Mousse: Mini size, value: $6 – I’ve never really cared about adding volume to my hair (even though, a little wouldn’t hurt 😉 ) I found that this spray really does add good volume to your roots. I think a lot of great looks could be created using this volumizing line!
  2. Urban Decay – 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil: Travel size, value: $15 – I got this in the colour Black Velvet and I have to say it really does go on like velvet! Very smooth and it’s waterproof. They advertise this eyeliner as being great for creating a smokey eye so I’m really excited to try that out with this pencil!
  3. Cailyn – Tinted Lip Balm: Full size, value: $19 – I got this in the colour Apple Pink and it’s like a dark coral/peach colour which I really. A little brush comes out of the top which makes it really easy to apply. The downside to this is the formula. Even though this is a tinted lip balm it isn’t really balmy at all! It wasn’t moisturizing at all. The colour seemed to go into the lines on my lips which made them look really cracked and dry 😦
  4. Dr. Brandt – Microdermabrasion: 7.5 g Sample, value: $9.75 – I’ve never tried a microdermabrasion treatment before so I was interested in how this would work! It has the tiniest little exfoliant beads which feel really nice and it smells like lime! That sounds all fine and dandy but this stuff totally messed up my skin, it started peeling and being even more dry and flaky. I thought microdermabrasion was supposed to help exfoliate the dead skin away, not make it more visible 😦
  5. City Color – White Gold Shadow & Highlight Mousse: Full size, value: $3.99 – When I saw this item in the sneak peaks I really wanted it! It just looked so interesting and like I would get a lot of use out of it. It’s definitely lives up to it’s white gold title. It’s a really great cheek bone highlight, inner eye corner colour, and brow highlight! Very versatile as you can have a subtle look or build for a more dramatic look.

Total Value: $53.74

What I paid: $15

Here’s a quick look I created using the makeup products I got in this bag:

I have the white gold highlighter on my cheek bones (With MAC’s Peachykeen blush) and eye lids, tightlined my eyes with the Urban Decay eye pencill, and I have the Cailyn tinted lip balm in Apple pink on my lips!

March 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

Here is another Ipsy Glam Bag review for you all, almost caught up to April! 😛

  1. Bare Minerals – Marvelous Moxie Lipstick – 1.5 g. Sample, value: $7 – Everyone received this lipstick in the colour Get Ready. The formula is nice and the colour looks nice in the photo above but on me it just looks a bit weird, I’m not sure what it is but it just doesn’t suit me. May be another thing that I give to my Mom haha!
  2. Nicole by OPI – Roughles Nail Polish – Full size, value: $7.99 – Everyone received this in the colour, “On What Grounds?” This is one of those textured nail polishes. It looks like sandpaper or sand when it dries and it looks really nice as an accent nail! I’ve only worn it once but maybe I’ll create a nail look using this polish to show you guys 🙂
  3. Pacifica – Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter – 2.5 oz. Sample, value: $4.69 I can never tell the difference between body butter, they’re all the same to me! I really love the scent of this though, coconut is my favorite ❤
  4. Be a Bombshell – Bora Bora Eye Shadow Quad – Full size, value: $16 – I was not too happy about this product. Although the colours are pretty, they are kind of random. I just couldn’t see myself using this quad a lot so I thought it would be better if I set it aside and saved it as a gift for someone!

Total Value: $35.68

What I paid: $15

January 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

Here’s another Ipsy bag review for you guys, I hope you’ve been enjoying them!

  1. Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm – Full size, value: $12 – I was pretty intrigued by this product when I saw that I would be receiving it but sadly, it didn’t live up to my expectations. It’s more of a gloss then a balm, kind of sticky, and doesn’t even smell like mojito 😦
  2. Yaby Foundation – Full size, value: $13.55 – It’s OK. I prefer a full coverage foundation whereas this one is a bit too sheer for me. Even though this is their full sized product it is very small compared to the average foundation bottle, Yaby foundation contains 8 mL. of product.
  3. Benefit Porefessional Primer – 3 mL. Sample, value: $5 – I have yet to try this product! I’m working on finishing my Smashbox Blemish Control Primer first. Knowing Benefit, I expect good things! Comment below if you’ve tried it, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it 🙂
  4. Balanced Guru Organic Sweet Cocoa & Tangy Body Balm – Travel size, value: $12 – I used this a couple times throughout the winter on myself and my boyfriend for our dry hands. I figured since it is a balm/salve consistency it would be very hydrating, especially with all its organic oils! It is a bit greasy but if you’re looking for deep hydration this is it! Very yummy citrus scent to it as well!
  5. Absolute! Makeup Cleansing Facial Tissue – 10 Wipes, value: $1.15 – To me, all makeup wipes are the same, always useful and I really loved the fresh cucumber scent!

Total value: $43.70

What I paid: $15
