Cetaphil DermaControl Review & GIVEAWAY!

HI GUYS! Long time no talk, eh? (Yea, some Canadians really do say eh.)

I’ve got an exciting post for you that is not only a product review but a giveaway as well! Cetaphil was not only generous enough to provide me with these products but to provide an awesome prize for my readers as well!

That being said I want to start off with a few disclaimers.dermacontrol-main

  1. These products were sent to me but all my opinions are completely honest and my own.
  2. Since skincare is so unique thing to each person, if these products did/didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it will/won’t work for you. Skin is just so damn complicated, am I right ladies??

The two products that Cetaphil sent me are the cleanser and moisturizer from their DermaControl line which is targeted at oily/combination and blemish prone skin. I have combination, acne prone, sensitive skin – awesome combo right?!

Cetaphil DermaControl Foam Wash

Product Claims My Thoughts
·       Hydrating wash I didn’t find it particularly hydrating. Almost felt dry just because of the way it feels when you’re applying it to your face.
·       Non-drying, soap-free foam I definitely agree, the foam did not lather (can be a good thing – means no sulfates) but it felt very strange. It felt like I was just rubbing water on my face and it didn’t really leave my skin feeling clean L
·       Rinses with no residue True!
·       Non-comedogenic, non-irritating I’m not sure if I can attest to this. My skin seems to always be somewhat irritated so I can’t tell if this product helped or hindered me at all.

Over all this cleanser was not my cup of tea and I will not continue to use it 😦

Cetaphil DermaControl Moisturizer

Product Claims My Thoughts
· Ceramide technology replenishes skin’s moisture barrier I did find it moisturized nicely.
· Broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection This moisturizer is SPF 30 – always a plus!
· Absorbs quickly with long-lasting hydration It does absorb quickly and provides nice hydration!
· Lightweight, non-greasy matte finish Yes, yes, and yes!

Even though this product does seem to meet all of its claims, sadly, it just did not work out for me. It made me breakout and that’s just not cool #SensitiveSkinProbs. Obviously, I will not continue using this product.

Personally, I think these products would be great for someone with oily skin opposed to someone with oily/combo skin.

Even though these products didn’t 100% meet my needs I still want to give you the chance to win them because they may meet yours! Unfortunately, this giveaway is for those who are currently residing in Canada, sorry guys! 😦

Thank you so much for reading and good luck ❤

Amie Skincare Review ♡

Hey beauties!

So I received some products from Amie Skincare a couple of weeks ago as they are starting to launch at select Shoppers Drug Mart Stores in Canada! Even though these products were sent to me, everything I say is my honest opinion 🙂

IMG_9587

From left to right: Radiant Dawn Exfoliating Wash, Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask, Morning Light Hydrating Daily Moisturizer, and Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturizer.

A little bit about the brand: Amie was actually created by leading beauty expert and ex-Estée Lauder executive, Fiona Parkhouse from the UK. Amie uses “high-quality natural plant and botanical ingredients (organic, wherever possible)” and is formulated without parabens, mineral oils, petrochemicals, sodium laureth sulphate or sodium lauryl sulphate, or ingredients of Genetically Modified Origin (GMO). They also don’t use animal products or test on animals so these products are also vegan and vegetarian friendly! 🙂

All great things to have (and not have) in your skincare!

First Impressions: Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm (SPF 25) ♡

Hello again!

I got a deluxe sample of the Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm that I featured in my latest Sephora haul and I thought I’d give it a whirl. I’ve been wearing it for the past couple of days and since it’s a small sample I’ll be finished it fairly soon haha. Anyways, here’s what it looks like!:

The magic of makeup.

I am always super skeptical of BB and CC creams. I never expect any coverage (homegirl loves coverage) and once again, I was pleasantly surprised by the coverage of this BB cream! It has a bit less coverage than the Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream which I have a first impressions post on here. But I think that is to be expected as a CC stands for Colour Correcting (I think?) and BB stands for Beauty Balm. I would say this is a light to medium coverage as it is sort of buildable. Here is Sephora’s description of this product!:

“A moisturizer, sunscreen, and treatment serum, this all-in-one product also hides imperfections. Made with 50 percent water, Dr. Jart’s Advanced Water Bead Technology helps hydrate and maintain healthy moisture for a dewy, fresh look. Like a drink for your skin, once applied, tiny droplets of water appear before being quickly absorbed, generating an instant soothing and cooling effect. This oil-free balm includes sunscreen ingredients that protect the skin from a broad range of UVA and UVB radiation, leaving skin looking smooth, perfect, and natural.”

I think this might be THE perfect face product for summer. Kind of bummed I didn’t discover it sooner! It feels like you’re not wearing any makeup, it applys easily, and gives THE MOST amazing dewy finish I’ve ever seen (on myself anyway). It’s like that perfect dewy skin you see in magazines, it’s so natural yet it helps hide imperfections. I do find it clings to dry patches a bit though which is strange because it’s made mostly of water so I would assume it wouldn’t do that? It’s nothing I can’t manage though, I love everything else about this product so much that I’m willing to over look that 😛 This product goes for $36 for 1.7 oz. which isn’t too too bad but unfortunately only comes in one colour which is super disappointing 😦 Luckily, this shade works for me but I can’t say the same for other people. Maybe it could work sort of as a primer under your regular foundation? I think you could still grab that dewy skin look with this product if you use it as a base.

I really love this product and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something light and dewy!

Let me know your thoughts on this BB cream if you’ve tried it before!

Avene Haul ♡

A couple of days ago I went to Shoppers Drug Mart and they had a little Avene display at the front of the store which intrigued me because there was a sign that stated you could get these two products (the last two in the photo) as a gift when you spend $30 or more. I’ve always been interested in trying Avene products, particularly the Thermal Spring Water (first item in the photo).

So I wandered over to the Avene section and they had this 3 piece set which included the first 3 items in this photo and a $5 coupon (to purchase the Hydrating Serum) for $31. The kit includes the Thermal Spring Water, Rich Moisturizer, and a Hyrdrating Serum. The free gift included a body oil and a body scrub (last two items in the photo).

Have you tried any Avene products before? What do you think of them?

First Impressions: Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream ♡

I mentioned in my Sephora Haul post that I would do a review on the Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream sample I received. Here are the results:

I’m laughing at the before and after LOL! Sorry the lighting is so different, in the last photo I was in natural light whereas in the first two pictures I was away from the window.

This CC cream retails for $58 for 1.7 ounces and unfortunately only comes in 4 shades. Here is what Sephora has to say about it:

This multifunctional complexion corrector is formulated with arbutin and camu camu, an Amazonian superfruit that has 30 times the vitamin C of an average orange. Vitamin C evens out the skintone and supports natural collagen, creating the appearance of firmer, brighter, younger-looking skin over time. It instantly minimizes the look of imperfections, while broad spectrum SPF 30 protects skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Antioxidant vitamins C and E help fight free radical attack and keep skin healthy, radiant, and beautiful.
